What a beautiful weekend, and a lovely week ahead of us.

Fishing is still very poor due the high sea's caused by extremely high winds. I have been severely punished by Mother Nature!

Pickford is taking preorders for Fresh King Salmon coming in Friday, March 14th.

PICKFORD'S WILL BE OPENING AT 12:00 WEDNESDAY TILL MARCH 9TH. DAY LIGHT SAVIVING'S TIME

Fresh Catch Tuesday,

FRESH SWORDFISH (Swordfish has a relatively mild taste, making it an inviting option for those who may not be huge fans of “fishy” flavors. Its mildness can be compared to that of popular fish like tuna and mahi-mahi. The taste of swordfish will not overpower your taste buds like salmon or catfish might. This makes it an ideal choice for those venturing into the world of seafood or looking for a more delicate flavor. The texture of swordfish is important to note as well – it’s firm and meaty, contributing to the overall mild taste.)

FRESH COLD-WATER DRY PACK SCALLOPS (Wet scallops are shucked on the boat directly into a container filled with cold water, which preserves the scallops for longer. The downside is that the scallops absorb water and plump up, giving them a less pure flavor and a tougher texture. These scallops also tend to be older by the time they get to the seller.

Often a preservative or chemical salt is added to the water to prevent the scallops from spoiling. If this is a concern for you, always ask the fishmonger how the scallops were packed before buying wet scallops.

Dry scallops are also shucked on the boat, but they go into a dry container with no water or preservatives. Their flavor is more pure and concentrated. They have a shorter shelf-life, but this means that they’re fresher when you buy them. Pickford only sells DRY PACK SCALLOPS!

FRESH VIRGINIA FLOUNDER (Flounder fish, a common delicacy in many parts of the world, is known for its delicate and mild flavor. Its taste can be described as sweet and slightly nutty, with a touch of brininess. The unique flavor profile of flounder makes it a versatile ingredient that can be prepared in various ways to suit different culinary preferences.

FRESH ICELANDIC COD LOIN (Cod Loins have a sweet but subtle flavor to them when properly cooked.)

FRESH SCOTTHISH SALMON
